Myspace Layout

February 18, 2006

A little while back a friend of mine talked me into using my MySpace account. I of course couldn't stand the look of the standard MySpace layout. I went to one of the many MySpace pre-made layout sites and picked one that suited me. It wasn't long before I was changing this or that, a color hear a font there.

Then I got the idea, why not lay a div over the whole layout and do whatever I want on top of it? I started messin with some coding and of course had problems with Internet Explorer (I.E.). My biggest problem was gettin a div to center in I.E. It would center just fine in Firefox and other standard complaint browsers. So I took a break and started doin searches tryin to find info on the subject. I ran across MySpaceProDesigns.com where I found a Div Tutorial. Needless to say I was so happy to see it was possible and someone else had done the leg work, I could get busy doing what I like, designing.

Now what to create? I have been wanting to do something totally different from what I ussualy do, and I have had a idea in the back of my mind for sometime. I know its been done before by a website because I have seen it once (not sure where). The idea you ask? Its a corkboard with paper messages pinned and taped to it.

Drumroll please... Ta Daaaa... Here is my MySpace layout. Some features of this layout, a CSS based image map (since MySpace blocks the #), Image based quik note (basically a shoutbox), and a hidden birthday countdown counter (hover my age to see it).

I have to say thanks to Chris for letting me finish his image based shoutbox script to use on this project.
