Myspace Layout

February 18, 2006

A little while back a friend of mine talked me into using my MySpace account. I of course couldn't stand the look of the standard MySpace layout. I went to one of the many MySpace pre-made layout sites and picked one that suited me. It wasn't long before I was changing this or that, a color hear a font there.

Then I got the idea, why not lay a div over the whole layout and do whatever I want on top of it? I started messin with some coding and of course had problems with Internet Explorer (I.E.). My biggest problem was gettin a div to center in I.E. It would center just fine in Firefox and other standard complaint browsers. So I took a break and started doin searches tryin to find info on the subject. I ran across MySpaceProDesigns.com where I found a Div Tutorial. Needless to say I was so happy to see it was possible and someone else had done the leg work, I could get busy doing what I like, designing.

Now what to create? I have been wanting to do something totally different from what I ussualy do, and I have had a idea in the back of my mind for sometime. I know its been done before by a website because I have seen it once (not sure where). The idea you ask? Its a corkboard with paper messages pinned and taped to it.

Drumroll please... Ta Daaaa... Here is my MySpace layout. Some features of this layout, a CSS based image map (since MySpace blocks the #), Image based quik note (basically a shoutbox), and a hidden birthday countdown counter (hover my age to see it).

I have to say thanks to Chris for letting me finish his image based shoutbox script to use on this project.

Version III

November 10, 2005

As you can see I have switched the site over to version 3. There are still many little things I want to change or fix, but for the most part the site should be functional. If anyone has any problems with the functionality please let me know, either thru the shoutbox, comments, or contact forms.

So what do you guys think? I was inspired by a windows media skin. This has been in the works for quite a while. Hopefully the site will be easier to navagate and register for now.

Tired of I.E.!

September 25, 2005

I just need to vent! I am so sick of Internet Explorer (I.E.) and its lack of CSS support. Web Designing would be sooooo much easier if I.E. would get there act together and make a standard complaint browser. I have found so many bugs in I.E. coding my new site template. Nothing like wasting a few hours to find a work around (hack) to make something appear the same way in I.E.

Why must I.E. do things this way? Why must we use tons of extra code, javascripts, and detects just to make a I.E. work the way it should? My new site template would be up by now if it wasn't for I.E. Page code in general would be smaller, faster, and even more cross browser compatible. I wouldn't even bother with I.E. except 70-80% of you guys (my visitors) use I.E.

Ahhh well I feel a little better but I am sure the next I.E. bug I run into will remind me of this article. Let me just say if you read this and are using I.E. please try a standard complaint browser! I recommend FireFox.

I just mentioned how I.E. has bugs in the way it parses CSS but it also has many security bugs. Yes I know every browser has bugs but I.E. has more than most.

Yahoo 7.0 Beta No More!

August 9, 2005

Today Yahoo released there Yahoo messenger 7.0 build 426 . This is the first Yahoo messenger 7.0 version without the "Beta" badge on it. I haven't found any difference from this version and the previous Beta version, besides it not saying "Beta" across the top anymore.

If anyone finds any differences post them here!

.:UPDATE:. I have noticed they revised the smileys and added some new ones!

.:UPDATE:. Yahoo has also added somthing called "LiveWORDS [BETA]" You can access it thru "Preferences". It looks like it will highlight words that are of interest to you. Then when you hover your mouse over the word it does a Yahoo search for that word.

.:UPDATE:. Yahoo added a new content tab option. Now you can sign into your Yahoo 360 account thru your messenger. Thanks goes to Donna for pointing this out.

.:UPDATE:. Looks like Yahoo has added some more audibles for this latest build. Check them out some of them are actually pretty good. Thanks goes to QueeeenofSpadez for pointing this out.

Version II

July 22, 2005

I put up a new layout today (as if you couldn't tell). What do you think about it? Do you like the old one better? Also you will notice a "V.I" and a "V.II" in the head of the site. These stand for versions one and two. They will allow you to skin the site with whatever layout you prefer
