Create a realistic metallic content box for your website in just minutes using Paint Shop Pro 9. I tried to make this tutorial as clear as possible. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Step 01.

Direct Link

Create a new document 200x300px. Flood fill this with a background color, I am going to use black. Then create a new layer. Layers > New Raster Layer. Turn on your grid CTRL+ALT+G, Set the grid to 5x5px View > Change Grid, Guide & Snap Properties.

Now choose your "Selection Tool" set the "Selection Type" to "Rounded Rectangle" and "Anti-alias" checked. Start in a higher corner and drag the selection tool diagonally to the opposite lower corner.

Now we want to make sure we have smooth lines so lets feather the selection a little. Selections > Modify > Feather. Set the feather's number of pixels to 2. Flood fill the selection now with Paint Shop pro 9''s "Gray" graident.

Step 04.

We need to erase the leftover white thats on our background color, so select the layer that you flood filled with the "Gray" gradient. Then Selections > Select All back to Selections > Float then again Selections > Invert.

Now select the layer you just blurred. Grab your "Eraser Tool" making sure the hardness and the density are set to 100. The size doesnt really matter I have mine set to 40. Start dragging your eraser all around the area we just blurred. Dont worry about erasing something your not supposed to, if you did the selections right you will only be able to erase what you need to.
